“Awaken the World”: 5000 Young Consecrated Persons to gather in Rome

A congress gathering some 5000 young consecrated persons from all over the world will take place in Rome in September.
“Awaken the World ... Gospel – Prophecy – Hope”": is the theme for the international congress for the young consecrated persons who will study “key questions such as consecration, community living and the mission”, said Archbishop José Rodriguez Carballo, secretary of the Pontifical Council for Consecrated Life.

The gathering will take place from September 15 - 19, 2015 in Rome, stated the Italian Catholic Agency "SIR". The prayer vigil on Tuesday, September 15, as well as the closing Mass at Saint Peter’s Basilica on Saturday, September 19 at 11: 30 a.m. will be open to all.

The congress is part of the initiatives for the 'Year of Consecrated Life' and will promote a better understanding of the meaning of consecrated life, “listening to witnesses” and "dialoguing with and among the young men and women".

Promoted by the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, the gathering has as its goal to "experience formation through an ecclesial, biblical, theological and charismatic deepening of the basic elements of consecrated life".

It "aims to promote an occasion for sharing" on the "reality", the "desires" and "the expectations" of young consecrated persons.
In promoting this gathering in an interview with the Italian Catholic Agency SIR, Archbishop José Rodriguez Carballo, secretary of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, said that the young consecrated persons "will be called to share their joys and their hopes".

"The challenge is to strengthen an identity which finds its unity in what is most important to consecrated life: consecration, community and the mission", he said. To do this, "deep unity on these points and freedom with regard to the rest" is necessary.

The program for the congress includes community events in the morning in the Paul VI Hall and group work, along linguistic lines, in the afternoon and evening.
