On a sunny Sunday, on August 30, 2015, the community of Sainte-Marthe in Vaudreuil, QC celebrated the 150th anniversary of the parish church.
Many guests honoured the celebration with their presence: Mme. Lucie Charlebois, Liberal Member for Soulanges, Mme Marie Montpetit, Liberal Member for Crémazie, a native of Sainte-Marthe, former pastors of the parish, and Sr. Monique Lalonde, a Sister of Charity of Ottawa, also a native of the parish.
Sr, Jeannine Pronovost, S.N.J.M., who lived there from 1963 to 1969 was also invited to the celebration. What a pleasure it was for her to rediscover friends and acquaintances.
Father André Lafleur, Vicar General of the Diocese of Valleyfield, gave a noteworthy homily.
Historical data, characteristics of the founding parishioners, and the spiritual heritage of the pastors and religious were expressed with proficiency and humour.
What a wonderful day on which men and women reconnected with the past and with old friends and were immersed in the richness of a community full of life and open to the future!
