A sincere THANK YOU for such dedication!

Sr. Rollande Lavoie wanted to point out the Quebec SNJM’s appreciation with regard to the members of the committee who took to heart their mission to fuel the life of the community over the last 15 years.

The time seems to have come to recognize the dedication of a few SNJM’s who, in a remarkable and steadfast way, have marked our lives for more than fifteen years.

Who, then, are they?

We are reminded that it has been fifteen years, and more precisely since the year 2000, that a committee made up of Sisters Gisèle Lalande, Maryse Moisan, Yolande Moreau and Monique Pomerleau, was formed.

This “Birthday Celebrations Committee” received the following mandate from Sr. Claire Fitzgibbon:

     - to contribute to the community life of Quebec by recognizing each SNJM
     - to promote a climate of relaxation and recognition of each other

This mandate was to last four years but was extended until 2015. Along the way, Sr. Pierrette Panneton replaced Sr. Yolande Moreau.

Here are some of the achievements of this very active committee:

  • Beginning on December 3, 2005, a festive dinner for birthday celebrations was hosted in Salle Eulalie-Durocher at Collège Durocher in Saint-Lambert. The dinner was always followed by a show and a drawing for numerous door prizes.

It is noted that on each occasion a special bus for the handicapped was chartered for the sick sisters who wanted to attend, along with someone who would accompany them.

  • Four or five activities were organized each year...it would be tedious to enumerate them since there were so many and they were so varied, but we hold them in our memories...

We do want to emphasize here the tremendous work of preparation, organization and the many steps required for each of the activities on the part of the members of the committee.

Above all, we want to thank them warmly for their immense dedication, their initiative and the happiness which they have repeatedly brought to so many SNJM’s...

Among the numerous sites visited, we highlight:  Outremont, Sainte-Martine, Saint-Lambert, Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Mont-Saint-Grégoire, Mirabel, Cap-de-la-Madeleine, and Saint-Joseph-du-Lac.

The activities were many and varied...

  • Sugaring-off parties, bingo, treasure hunts, special outings, numerous concerts at Maison Jésus-Marie...

So many hours of work, of procedures, of calls; in short, so much precious time dedicated to the preparation and the organization of these many activities in response to the demands and the expectations of the committee.
