The SNJM Congregation is pleased with the new museum in the Co-Cathedral

A means to transmit the SNJM legacy

Longueuil, Québec – June 29, 2016 – “We are very happy with the renovation of this Museum, particularly the section reserved for our Foundress, Blessed Mother Marie-Rose Durocher.  Thanks to a well thought-out perspective, this area will contribute to a better understanding of her work and her place in the history of Longueuil and of Quebec”, said Sister Denise Riel, Provincial Animator of the SNJM Congregation.

Partners right from the beginning, the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM) are very pleased with the final outcome. They applaud this concerted effort to make major repairs to the museum in the Co cathedral of Saint-Antoine-de-Padoue in Longueuil.

A fruitful collaboration

“We are particularly proud to continue our affiliation with the Co-Cathedral of Saint-Antoine-de-Padoue which has already welcomed Mother Marie-Rose’s tomb. This collaboration makes it possible for us to leave an enduring legacy and to ensure a wider dissemination”, added Sister Riel.

We are reminded that this partnership is part of a long tradition of mutual support between the Parish of Saint-Antoine-de-Padoue in Longueuil and the SNJM’s.  It is a collaboration that dates back to the mid 19th century and took a new turning point on May 1, 2004. Since that date, the remains of Blessed Marie-Rose Durocher have been resting in the Marie-Rose Chapel, within the co-cathedral. Each year, hundreds of the faithful come to pray there.
