100 years of SNJM Presence in East Angus

The Celebration on May 24th was a great success.   People received a warm welcome when they initially gathered to meet and greet one another in the Pierre Labrecque Room in the Saint-Louis Parish hall. Then, the celebration of the Eucharist began with a grand entrance procession.  Three people were dressed in the traditional habit, representing the three foundresses of the SNJM Congregation: an Associate represented Mother Marie-Rose and Sister Lorraine Bouffard and Sister Rachel Bédard, who currently live in East Angus, represented Mother Marie-Agnès and Mother Marie-Madeleine.

The pastor, Fr. Gérard Bégin, accompanied by Msgr. Raymond Jodoin and Fr. Emile Thibeault, celebrated the Eucharist.  The masterful performance by the parish choir, accompanied by organists Gisèle et Rodrigue Boivin and violinist Mélanie Champoux, greatly contributed to the solemnity of the fest.

A painting by Ghislaine F. Labbé, Associate, was unveiled at the end of Mass. (refer below to the French PDF text )

The festivities continued in the “Salle Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde” in East Angus as the guests enjoyed a hot buffet and listened to stories, anecdotes and speeches, emceed by Fr. Patrick Côté.  An invitation was also extended, to those interested, to visit the former convent.

Everyone greatly appreciated this wonderful opportunity to come together to celebrate and to re-live the memories.
