In the presence of the screen writer Marie Vien

A lecture with the theme “The Passion of Augustine”... according to the SNJM’s” will be held on Saturday, August 13 at 1 pm, at the Congregational House of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM). This activity, open to everyone, will enable the public to meet with some of the Sisters who worked in education during the 1960s.

The meeting will also bring together the screenwriter of the movie "The Passion of Augustine," Marie Vien who, on numerous occasions, consulted the Sisters of the SNJM Congregation as she was developing the scenario for this film, voted "Best Film "at the Quebec Film Gala.

The informal historical lecture will enable the public to discover women of heart, committed women and women passionate for education in general and for music, in particular. The participants will thus be able to talk with the Sisters, share their stories and their experiences during turbulent times.

In addition to the Sisters and the screenwriter, former students of the SNJM’s are expected to join the group to emphasize the importance of music in their lives. The meeting promises pleasant reunions and fascinating discussions.

A diversified program

Organized within the framework of cultural activities during the City of Longueuil’s Archeological Month, this talk will be followed by a short concert in the chapel at 3 pm. It will feature some of the Sisters, still animated by this passion for music, and a former student, Lorraine Prieur, a renowned musician who herself became a teacher, along with one or two of her students.

Simultaneously, visitors will be able to discover the SNJM’s journey in the schools in Longueuil and a mini exhibit on the Saint-Antoine Brook “In Search of the Lost Brook”, presented during the entire month of August. Those who are more inquisitive, will be able to deepen their knowledge with the current exhibit “The General Chapters: Crossroads on the SNJM’s Journey”, presented by the Congregation’s Archives Department.
