“Bishop Crowley Memorial Award”

Thursday evening, May 14, 2009, the English Speaking Catholic Council, sponsored a celebration for the Roman Catholic community at the Eric McLean, S.J. Centre for the Performing Arts at Loyola High School.  The guest speaker, Fr. Frank DeSiano CSP, international leader and inspirational author from New York, gave an inspiring and challenging talk on “Reviving Discipleship and Church Growth”.

Following the talk, the “Bishop Crowley Memorial Award”, an award recognizing distinguished service in the community by an individual or organization, was presented to some well-deserving, hard-working people who have helped to make a difference in the English-speaking community.

This year, the recipients were Mr. Donald Myles, member of the Advisory Committee, Richard and Janet Macklem, long-time parishioners at the Ascension of Our Lord Parish and the Parish Catechetical Leaders in the 43 English and cultural parishes.

Sister Beverley Wattling SNJM, from St. Monica Parish and Rosetta Staltari, SNJM Associate, from Our Lady of Difesa and Our Lady of Consolata Parishes were two of the recipients.  A plaque was presented to Mrs. Emily Pace, the coordinator of the PCL and each leader received a copy of a book written by Fr. Frank DeSiano CSP.
