Spiritual Message – January 2017 - Called to a spirituality of welcome ... welcoming the immigrant and refugee

This second spiritual message of the year, composed by Sister Claudette Bastien, invites us to reflect on “welcoming the immigrant and refugee”.   

In this message, Sister Claudette invites us to look at the life of the People of God and the life of Jesus. Recalling the distress of immigrants and refugees arriving in a new land, she emphasizes the importance of “a loving reassuring presence in their lives.

At a time when there is much talk about erecting walls, she speaks of opening paths, and tearing down walls of fear and insecurity while asking the question: Is intercultural living not a “new way of living our faith” today?
