A memorable gathering of the English-speaking Sisters and Associates

On March 11th, some English-speaking Sisters and Associates experienced a day filled with wonderful events at the Congregational House in Longueuil.  The day was divided into three parts: focus on taking a corporate stand on behalf of migrants and refugees, celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day and receiving the Acts of the 34th General Chapter held in 2016.

The day began with a presentation dedicated to the ongoing process of taking a corporate stand on behalf of migrants and refugees. Facilitated by Ingrid Lefort and Dorothy Guha, SNJM Associate, this part of the meeting provided participants with the opportunity to reflect on their perceptions of and lived experiences with strangers and to share these experiences. After this period of discussion and prayer, the Sisters voted while the Associates expressed their support for this ongoing process.

time for celebrating and a time for supporting Development and Peace

The second part of the day was celebrating Saint Patrick's Day. The ambience was enhanced by little touches of green here and there, on clothing and on the decorations in the room. In addition to the delicious food, the music, the singing and the conversations, there was a time of prayer and contemplation during which we gathered donations for "Development and Peace".

The meeting continued with a third important component, that of receiving the booklet containing the Acts of the 34th General Chapter. This handing on the Chapter Acts ended the meeting in a beautiful way by recalling all the reflective work that occurred during this event which took place in Cornwall in 2016. The presentation of the 2016 General Chapter Acts took place in the presence of Sister Lorna Cooney, General Councilor and the booklets were handed by the members of the Provincial Leadership Team: Sisters Denise Riel, Claudette Bastien and Beverley Wattling.

This celebration ended with a surprise video put together by Ingrid Lefort. (The video is found in the right hand column under "Videos".)   A wonderful time was had by all.
