A Tribute to Sister Françoise Angers in l'Épiphanie

The year 2013 marks the 40th anniversary of the library in l’Épiphanie. On the occasion of this 40th anniversary celebration, in recognition of the magnificent work carried out by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, the municipal authorities wanted to express their admiration to one of its pioneers.

To do so, they named the municipal library “Bibliothèque Françoise Angers”. A grand celebration, in tribute to Sister Françoise, took place on April 7, 2013.

Sister Françoise thanked the municipal authorities with these words:

“I am acutely aware of the honor which you have so generously bestowed upon me by naming the library of l’Épiphanie after me. I accept this honour because I understand that you are also honouring my community, without which nothing that I have done would have been possible.

I would also like to thank God. It was certainly within his loving plan of Providence to lead me to you. May the star of the Epiphany protect us with its light for a long time to come and may friendships blossom here as a pledge of happiness and peace for each one of us.”

 A little bit of history

At the outset, the library began in the convent of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. Along with Sister Bérengère Laplante, Sister Françoise Angers was a pioneer of its founding and worked there for 15 years.

After the Sisters left l’Épiphanie, the people of the municipality worked at developing this library. Today, thanks to generous subsidies, it has undergone a major expansion. The new building contains 30 000 books which readers of all ages can benefit from.
