For 25 years Sister Thérèse Laplante has participated in the “l’Antre-Temps de Longueuil” Project as a Board member. This organization is part of the “Auberges du Cœur”, which has as its mission to shelter young people between the ages of 14 to 18 who are facing difficulties, whether it be by helping them return to school or by supporting them as they try to get into the workforce.
On April 24, the workers and the members of Board thanked Sister Thérèse for her monthly commitment and her participation on a variety of committees by naming her Volunteer of the Year. A festive gathering, during the last meeting of the season on June11, will highlight the end of her mandate.
During these years of collaboration, her presence was deeply appreciated for its educative dimension, in faithfulness to the SNJM charism. Her involvement and the support of the Congregation have certainly contributed to the wellbeing of the work today.
Here is Sister Thérèse’s testimony: “Working with the Auberges du Cœur has allowed me learn the true facts about young people today, and to work alongside the founder of the organization: Claude Caron, a visually impaired person who is completely dedicated to the cause of youth. I also got to know the very competent workers, the true specialists in education.
Over the last 25 years, we have had some good times and some less than good times, but we were always happy to be working together. It was a commitment which was quite complementary to my years of teaching.”
Congratulations, Thérèse!
