Saint Francis of Assisi, Claire Fitzgibbon and Marie-Rose Durocher

In the Saint François d’Assise Parish weekly Bulletin for October 6, Father François Baril, pastor and friend of our community, invited the SNJM’s to celebrate Mother Marie-Rose and to remember Sister Claire Fitzgibbon SNJM, who had been a member of the parish team from 1994 to 1996, and who died 10 years ago.

He emphasized that for many years, the SNJM’s had lived in the parish. Under the heading "An Amazing Woman", the same Bulletin recalled Sister Claire’s commitment. “She had a genuine concern for people, especially the   most vulnerable. She worked for greater justice in our society. She joined the ranks of people who wanted equality between men and women. She took care of people who were grieving, led small faith-sharing groups here and was a part of numerous committees”.

Sister Thérèse Laplante who attended the event, told us that:

“Approximately twenty SNJM Sisters participated in the Eucharist which focused on the family. During a skit, Sisters, parents and children received advice from Francis and Mother Marie-Rose. This joyful celebration continued during a wonderful reception in the parish hall."
