I go to the 3rd floor every Sunday to read and speak to the Sisters who are ill. I really enjoy this. It helps me with my French because I am English and I am also learning a lot about the lives of the Sisters. Sometimes they tell me stories about their lives and their childhood. It is all very interesting!
I don’t see this as work, but rather I try to bring some joy to them. It is the best feeling in the world to see the impact I can make by being there for someone. I enjoy it when the Sisters remember me even though they sometimes have difficulty expressing it.
Volunteering at MJM is wonderful! I am learning, I am having fun and I am helping the Sisters who have helped the Community throughout their lives. I see this approach as 10% for my ethics course and 90% for my happiness.
