Celebrating Our Star Jubilarians!

Jubilaires: Rose Longval et Gabrielle Cossette, 70 years; Monique Papineau et Jeannine Duplin, 60 years; Aline Côté et Aline Hébert, 50 years of commitment

On Sunday, March 4, an exceptional celebration took place at Résidence Ste-Émélie. And we had much to celebrate: “no less than six jubilarians!” were being honored. Everything in the house was gleaming and vibrant. Hearts overflowed with joy, giving thanks to the Lord who could accomplish such wonders!

The activities began with a Solemn Mass presided by Father Ruphin. The entrance procession led by the jubilarians each holding a candle, hymns like incense rising to God, a homily, renewal of vows by the jubilarians followed by a resounding Magnificat, Communion with bread and wine: such was the Eucharistic celebration!  Nourished by the Bread of Life, we continued the festivities.

Let us celebrate...
and let us dance!

A meal worthy of grand hotels was prepared by our cook, M. Rémi Joncas. We were served by young girls who also shared in our joy. Everything was perfect, especially the nice glass of wine and the celebratory cake which brought the banquet to a fitting end.

We then gathered in the multipurpose room where a fairy tale show unfolded before our eyes: it was the “Troupe Aquarelle” who brought back the spells that were cast by the ballroom dances of old: polkas, waltzes, and mazurkas. The costumes, no less than the movements of the dance dazzled us. A slightly mocking voice recalled the disapproving comments evoked by these dances when they first appeared many years ago. As for us, we would not hesitate to confer a certificate of high standing for the grace and physical elegance which fostered relaxation and lightened hearts. We will always remember this special presentation. Refreshments were then served and the dancers were invited to join us.

This wonderful day ended as it began: with gratitude and thanksgiving.  We could almost hear Mother Marie-Rose saying: “I didn’t know it would be so pleasing to belong to God, and to live for Him alone!”
