On October 5, 2014, the parishioners from Charlemagne paid tribute to Sister Liette Lessard on the occasion of her 50th anniversary of fidelity to the Lord, 45 of which were spent with the Charlemagne community.

Since 1969, the date when she first arrived at École Sainte-Marie-des-Anges, she has always successfully handed down her passion for the gospel values of love, justice and peace to the young, as well as to those who were not so young. Liette is a committed woman who is dedicated, generous, full of life, determination and vitality; a woman of listening, she is always ready to be of service.

After 37 years of teaching, she devoted herself to formation at the Institut de pastorale Dominicains in Montreal. In 2005, she received a mandate from the Bishop of Montréal to serve as director of the RSE (Director of early Childhood Services) for the Pastoral Unit of Saint-Paul-l’Ermite and of Saints Simon and Jude, a position which she still holds to this day. Her mandate was primarily focused on preparing courses to ensure continuity for children during their Christian journey.

She devotes the vast majority of her time to sacramental initiation for about 300 children per year and to the formation of about sixty catechists who assist her in the daunting tasks which she must carry out. Along with other colleagues, she saw to making the necessary changes to transform Saint-Paul-l’Ermite Parish into a School of Faith.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, light refreshments were offered so that the parishioners could offer her their congratulations and express their gratitude, as did Saint-Paul-l’Ermite Parish, last May. In the words of Mr. Serge Desjardins, "For us Sister Liette was and still is A Great Lady."

Since Sister Liette is connected with the community of Résidence Marie-Rose-Durocher in Montreal, she visited and shared her cake with her SNJM companions. Having again seen the scope of her work, they were delighted to add their gratitude to that of the people from Saint-Paul-l’Ermite and Charlemagne.
