Showing solidarity

On the occasion of the World March of Women, a two-step process toward solidarity took place at Résidence Marie-Rose-Durocher.

Prior to October 17, a reflection on the situation of women in different countries around the world took place: to raise the awareness of the sufferings of our sisters and especially, to make a commitment to continue to pray and to take action for their liberation. Each Sister chose a card with the name of a specific country on it and these countries were then integrated into our prayers, long-term.

Bénédiction des deux marcheuses

In addition to this, linked as well to the March, a reflection on the thousands of indigenous women who have disappeared over these past years, took place.

Initiated by the organizers of the SNJM participants, placards with the name of each Sister were prepared and brought to Trois-Rivières as a sign of each one’s presence with those who would, in fact, march through the streets.

Constance et Jeanne, les vaillantes marcheuses

Two Sisters from the house took part in this important March. On the Thursday before October 17, a ceremony of special blessing was held. After the prayer, the two Sisters received all our support through a gesture of community solidarity.

This March, 20 years after the “Bread and Roses March” was a great success!

Now is the time for concrete action regarding women!
