The success of the movie "La passion d’Augustine"

An opportunity to discover another part of history …

The numerous awards given to Léa Pool’s film, "La passion d’Augustine", rekindles interest in a story which is but a memory regarding religious congregations who were true pillars in education, music and healthcare in Quebec before the Quiet Revolution.

It is interesting to note that the scriptwriter Marie Vien consulted Sr. Violette Blais, from the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM), many times during her research while creating her screenplay. Sister Violette, who is celebrating her 60th anniversary of religious life this year, has a great deal to tell about this turbulent period and on the preparations connected to the movie.
