Festive mood at Maison Jésus-Marie

Friday, July 22, was a day of celebration at Maison Jésus-Marie. There were no less than three separate locations for festive gatherings!

The Sisters living on the Main Floor of the house had their annual BBQ. Some took advantage of the beautiful weather to eat outdoors where tables with sun umbrellas had been set up for the occasion. Others stayed indoors to enjoy this meal with a summer flavour. The ambiance, exuberance, and a good meal combined to make this a wonderful experience.

At the same time, on the occasion of her birthday, the members of Sister Gilberte Trudeau’s family were welcomed. Gathered in the former locked unit on the 2nd floor west, the mood was jubilant. Balloons and happiness were the order of the day with the added pleasure of everyone gathering together for a meal.

And finally, benefitting from a day off, three participants from the General Chapter came to Maison Jésus-Marie.  Sisters Mary Ellen Holohan, Linda Riggers and Sue Woodruff met up with Diane Boudreault and Marie-Paule Demarbre. They were the five members of the Congregational Leadership Team from 1991-1996.

Over a pleasant meal, they shared happy memories and present day situations.  After the meal, Sister Marcelle Reid, who was the General Bursar for part of their mandate, joined them. It was the first time in 20 years that the six were all together. The three participants from the General Chapter returned to Cornwall very happy at having been able to greet the Sisters from Maison Jésus-Marie.
