Self-taught artist-painter and author, Rose Lévesque surprised many people by her enthusiasm and her joie de vivre, despite her 82 years. Invited to speak about her journey as part of the "Portrait de femme" (Portrait of Women) series, this resident of Saint-Hubert talked about her passion for the arts.
Having, little by little, become immersed into the visual arts community, Rose Lévesque has organized many activities promoting and recognizing the talent of local artists. In addition to arranging art exhibitions in malls with the goal of reaching as many people as possible, Ms. Lévesque has also given free sessions of initiation to the arts, in residences for the elderly, all the while continuing to hold Exhibitions.
She has expanded her activities to young people, for example, by arranging drawing contests, and encouraging them to learn about or to become acquainted with the cultural milieu through events such as the Journées de la culture (Cultural Days).
This energetic woman has, at the same time, developed another passion, that of writing. In 2006, her first collection of poems "Les mots qui coulent" ("Words which Flow") was published. This foray into the literary milieu was followed by the publication of an anthology of poems, entitled « Paroles de femmes » ("Words by Women").
