The SNJM’s in General Chapter

The Sisters of Holy Names have gathered in Cornwall, Ontario, from July 8th to the 22nd for their 33rd General Chapter.  All the Sisters and Associates participated in various ways in the process which began in September 2009.  The result of prayer, reflection and sharing led to three main themes:

  • deepening and transmitting charism and SNJM spirituality
  • education for transformation and doing justice
  • living interdependence and rethinking our SNJM structures for the future

70 delegates including Sisters, Associates and a few SNJM invited guests have come together to reflect, pray and discern the direction that the Congregation will focus on during the next five years.  A new leadership team will also be elected during this General Chapter.  The SNJM’s count on your prayers and solidarity.

Having established and administered many public and private schools, the Sisters and their Associates work in the areas of education, social justice, full development of the human person and the promotion of the arts in Canada, Brazil, Peru, Lesotho and the United States. They are also involved in pastoral activities as well as with international organizations.
