Sister Huguette Fleurant, along with Mrs. Mélanie Dufresne, one of her valued collaborators, gave a wonderful account to the Sisters at Residence SNJM Sainte-Émélie, of the terrific work carried out at CABIR (Centre d’Action Bénévole d’Iberville et de la Région) of which she is the director and where she is truly committed to the people of Iberville.
This is what Sister Huguette told us: "At the Volunteer Center in Iberville, we are a team of 12 salaried experienced workers and more than 550 committed and dynamic volunteers.
Our mission is to promote volunteerism and to bring about a positive response to the needs of the milieu. We must be ready to help out in unexpected circumstances, such as in the floods of 2011. At that time, we gave out close to 3 000 meals to the victims of the disaster because they had no time to cook.
My duties entail many components which consist of planning, organizing, supervising and supporting the different services at the center: organisation, managing changes, customer satisfaction, perspectives for development, etc. I have managed and planned human and financial resources, have maintained and developed relationships with partners and sponsors."
