Work comprises the invisible face of human trafficking. Yet, the International Labour Organization estimates that close to 21 million people are victims of forced labor, of whom 11,4 million are women and girls and 9,5 millions are men and boys.
In Canada cases of human trafficking for forced labour have come to light in Alberta, Ontario and British Columbia. Migrant workers (men and women) form a vulnerable group at risk of becoming forced labourers. The lecture will provide a better understanding of forced labour and will suggest some concrete actions.
