Thousands of religious mobilize against human trafficking
More than 30 thousand religious women, almost 8,000 priests and about 2,700 religious brothers mobilized "for a prevention campaign that will begin on May 18 in all the host cities of the Football World Cup and will last until the games are finished" in order to increase the awareness of the population of Brazil on issues such as human trafficking and sexual exploitation in the country, announced the Fides Agency.
This campaign entitled "Play in favor of Life” is sponsored by the Conference of Religious of Brazil (CRB).
According to Sister Eurides de Oliveira, coordinator of the network "A cry for life", and in charge of preparing the campaign, the work of priests and religious will mainly focus on "prevention and information".
Leaflets concerning the prevention of the different forms of human trafficking will be handed out in bus stations, public transport locations, airports and hotels in the cities which are hosting the games.
