Sr.Marie Dubreuil, a Hundred Years Old
Sister Marie Dubreuil celebrated her 100th birthday, April 3rd, surrounded by her nephew, several nieces, a grandniece and former students from Waterloo who came to celebrate this centenarian who had once been their esteemed art teacher who taught painting.
During the Mass of Thanksgiving, Sister Marie renewed her vows and shared a moment of gratitude for all her years of life and service. M. Pierre-Michel Fontaine, a former student, sang the Ave Maria which he dedicated to Sister Marie. M. Jean-Pierre Lépine gave a very moving witness at the end of Mass; (refer to the attached PDF text, in Fench) and Sister Evelyn presented her with a Papal blessing which brought a smile to her face and a feeling of great joy.
Then, Sister Marie and her invited guests went to the Multimedia room to continue the celebration and to re-live some of the happiest memories of Waterloo. The walls were decorated with many of Sister Marie’s paintings, having been enlarged for the occasion. Beautiful mobiles of flowers, creatively made by Sister Léa Delude, enhanced the décor of the room indicating signs of the approaching springtime.
A magnificent cake graced the center of the table on which was inscribed:
Congratulations Sister Marie on your 100th birthday!
The cake was surrounded by candles and flowers, along with a sparkling wine, with which we toasted our beloved centenarian. Following this, there was a presentation of gifts and a farewell speech.
The guests were delighted to discover a greatly beloved aunt, and an appreciated teacher. It was good to see folks reconnecting with one another. Each person left in an upbeat festive mood after having had a wonderful reunion with this greatly appreciated and beloved centenarian.
Since that celebration, Sister Marie has not stopped thanking the Lord for those beautiful moments, as she browses through the photo album of memories.
