Celebrating birthdays with the theme “Let’s sing to life”

With the theme “Let’s sing to life” the traditional celebration of the birthdays took place at the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM). The event, held on February 18th at Maison Jésus-Marie, brought together the Sisters and Associates of the Congregation.

The tone was set upon arrival at the entrance. The welcome by three students from Collège Durocher-Saint-Lambert, the decoration with balloons and the presence of so many Sisters were an invitation to joy and sharing.

Bouquets of songs

On the program for the celebration three bouquets of songs were presented: songs of joy, enthusiasm, color, vitality and songs known since childhood. Each bouquet included melodies in keeping with the theme whether it was about nature, arts and culture or relationships.

Each theme was introduced by a short commentary given by the committee in charge of preparing the celebration and an invitation to a short discussion among those present.

A special surprise

A surprise awaited the group: Madame Diane Plante, a violinist and a former student of Sister Maryse Moisan, performed with a group of her students. The performance of familiar waltzes produced joy, humming and even a few dance steps. These young musicians brought a breath of fresh air and many memories to the audience.

The text of a prayer composed by Jacques Gauthier, recalling that each person is a grace, and the refrain “Hallelujah” from Leonard Cohen’s song brought this community celebration to a fitting conclusion.

Once again, the organizing committee was creative as they brought a distinctive touch to this traditional celebration at the SNJMs.
