Facilitating Monthly Retreats for Women

An average of twenty-three women from around Montreal, mostly from the West Island, gather each month to listen to input, pray, reflect and share in small groups on a Scripture-based theme.

This wonderful ministry that God has led me to is very enriching for these women who carry what they have received back to their families and other commitments.  It is equally enriching for me.  Indeed, each month I experience the universal truth that “In blessing, we are blessed.”
The themes presented so far have been: Reconciliation, Disciples of Emmaus, Pentecost, New Beginnings, Women, Remembering, and Called by Name. The Eucharist, celebrated by Fr. Gabriel Côté sj, is an integral part of the day.

How did I come to this ministry? A year ago, I was invited to continue the work of Sister Joan Foliot, CND who, for sixteen years, had been leading retreats for women on the third Wednesday of each month.

These retreat days were held for many years at Villa Marguerite, a retreat centre run by the Congregation of Notre Dame in Pierrefonds, on the shore of Rivière des Prairies, and subsequently at Villa St. Martin, a Jesuit retreat centre located in close proximity.
