“I Walk with the Family”, was the theme of a Walk which gathered close to 300 people at Parc Pierre-Laporte, in Boucherville on October 4, 2015. This was an initiative of the Diocese of Saint-Jean-Longueuil which has family as its priority.
A religious dimension was linked to the festive tone of the walk.
And so, the young “actors and actresses” represented important figures from the Bible or from our religious history.
With the help of Ingrid Le Fort, Animator of Spiritual Life and Community Involvement at Pavillon Saint-Lambert, and the personnel from Centre Marie-Rose, Katherine Jackson, a Secondary II student at ‘PSTL’ personified Mother Marie-Rose.
Denise Riel who participated in the event, paid tribute to our foundress by quoting her words:
“In Beloeil, I was very involved in the milieu. I visited families, the sick, and the poor. It was there that I discovered that there was a lack of education in the countryside. The girls especially were left without schooling. To me, the woman’s role was always crucial in the family and in society. It was then that I thought about how useful a teaching community would be…”
Katherine then shared with everyone the phrase that guided Mother Marie-Rose’s entire life:
“ I have come to cast fire on the earth and how I wish
it were already kindled”. Luke 12, 49
