On November 4th, a project important to the Historical and Cultural Society of Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu was completed: that of adding an atmosphere of reflection to the burial ground of Eulalie Durocher’s parents.

Mr. Olivier Durocher’s monument was repatriated, a new tomb stone was erected and a commemorative plaque rendered homage to the Durocher family. Shrubs, flowers and two benches adorn this 20 by 20 square-foot space. 

Among the forty people who took part in the inauguration ceremony were the Pastor M. Léonard Gariépy, the Deputy from Verchères, the Mayor of the town, representatives from the Historical and Cultural Society, kind-hearted volunteers and seven SNJM Sisters. The two leadership levels of the Congregation contributed financially to the realisation of this project.

After a prayer of blessing (attached below as a PDF file), a poem to Eulalie, speeches filled with gratitude and pride, stirring music and a word of thanks by Sister Lorraine Saint-Hilaire, the group moved on to a reception at the parish hall where wine and a beautifully prepared feast added to the joy of those gathered.
